A Christian Worldview of History

To begin, one must recognize what a Christian worldview even is. As one could easily surmise, a Christian worldview is simply viewing life through a 'Christian lens'. A Christian is merely a servant of Christ/God; therefore, individual wants/needs take (or at least should if one is to truly live a life in accordance to the gospel) a backseat to best serving Christ/God. Truthfully, aside from the most fervent monks, nobody does the aforementioned... which in all honesty, is actually a good thing. Why would I waste my life being a 24/7 servant in which I deprive myself of joy? Like with anything, it is best to find a good balance. One can be a devout Christian and servant of God and still live a life of 'decadence'. Additionally, one's Christian worldview should not be called into question unless one were to outright engage in a lifestyle completely incongruous with the gospel.

Now, what is a Christian Worldview of history? Well, it is simply taking that 'Christian lens' and applying it to the field of history. While a Christian worldview may be important to someone as a person, it should play no part in being a historian. A historian's main (if not sole) focus is nothing more than the pursuit of truth. Looking at historical events/figures/etc... through a 'Christian lens' just adds more bias to the equation... something historians should try to suppress as much as possible. I'm sure most Christian historians would disagree entirely with my take on this matter... but at the end of the day I'm right.
